Equal Rights

I think the equal rights amendment is something that should definitely be passed. Our country claims to have equal oppurtunity for everyone and gender should not be an issue. Time and time again women have proved that they are capable of the same work that men do. Today there are women in the military and just about every job out there.

I would like to see the amendment revived. While women are not forced to be the homemaker any more they are still stuck with the label of housewife. Now more than ever women are trying to break free from that and an amendment would show just how much progress they have really made.

bombing civilians

Bombinb civilians during wartime is definitely not justifiable. These are innocent people who are just caught in the wrong place and making them a military target is not right. Even though it is terrible this is what gave Hitler his edge. He was doing terrible things that nobody had seen before and nobody knew how to stop him.

Government demanding loyalty

The gorvernment should not have to force its citizens to be loyal. Doing this will only have the opposite effect. By taking away a citizens rights and telling them they must support their country it makes them question what they're fighting for. America is so great because of the freedoms it offers not because it forces it's citizens to be patriotic. You can not force somebody to love something and trying will probably only make them resent it. If the United States tries to force loyalty it won't gain any supporters and it will lose many supporters it once had.

Spain to Blame

The U.S.S. Maine has been destroyed and Spain is the one to blame. On the night of February 15th the spanish attacked without any justification. 266 Americans were killed as a result of the savage attack and only 89 were found alive. To make matters worse the spanish will not even own up to their terrible actions. The ship was off the coast of cuba where tentions between the U.S. and Spain have been rising. While the spanish were definitely not considered friends nobody expected the terrible act of brutality that occured. Innocent Americans have been killed and somebody has to pay for it. Spain must be punished for what they have done.
